Voice User Interface Specialist

As a Voice User Interface Specialist, you will be designing the user experience for speech-enabled applications on Amazon Alexa enabled devices such as Echo and working with Amazon Connect, Amazon’s on-demand contact centre.

Among other activities, you will validate functionality choices, design call flows, script the dialogs, and define grammars.

You’ll perform UAT testing with clients to further refine functionality and design choices. As a VUI specialist, you will need to learn about user groups, and work effectively with clients in a design-leadership role on each engagement, while simultaneously working toward the customer’s financial goals and remaining the authority on best practices in user-centred design.

Responsibilities

• Discover and analyse requirements from both the client’s and the user’s perspective.
• Create effective speech-based, user-centred interface designs including call flow, dialogs, functional logic, and prompts to match the established persona and user archetype.
• Create effective UX designs including, speech, visual and tactile interaction flows, functional logic, and auditory cues to match the established requirements.
• Assist in implementing these designs, interacting with developers, directing voice talents, and performing usability tests.
• Analyse performance of the user interface in the field with regard to performance metrics and user experience, and recommend specific changes to improve caller satisfaction and transaction completion.
• Use your experience on your specific projects to add to our constantly growing set of playbooks
• Design alternative solutions, evaluating them to choose the best approach. Visualise and prototype intended solutions. Meet and work closely with clients, users, and development partners to validate conceptual designs.
• Work closely with parters including AWS to adhere to best practice
• Support ad hoc project requests that may be unrelated to customer requirements or product knowledge (e.g., prepare workshop packages, demos, conceptual mock-ups).
• Facilitate presentations and discussions with customers, users, and developers to drive resolution on proposed features and functionality.

• Partner with development team to drive successful implementation of product design specifications. Resolve any implementation issues that affect the design and overall experience.

 

Qualifications

BSc in Computer Science related discipline or equivalent work experience

 

Required Skills

• 5+ years of relevant voice UI design experience
• Exposure to AWS/Alexa
• Creativity and the ability to work in an innovative and consultative environment
• Strong communication skills and the ability to deliver presentations to customers

Highly Regarded

• Speech recognition software and/or call centre experience.
• Alexa skills development experience
• node.js exposure
• Experience with Speech Design / Speech User Interface / Natural Language Speech User Interface design
• In-depth AWS experience – certification a definite plus
• Professional copywriting experience.
• Understanding mobile design patterns and their application when creating UI task flows and artifacts.
